This Abhyanga helps you to relax the
tension filled parts of your body-mind. It
helps to release subtle stress and allows
you to heal and rejuvenate from deep inside
the body. This relaxation massage often takes
you to a state of deep tranquility, joy and
happiness.
Abhyanga is an ancient cultural healing practice
in Ayurveda. It is a Snehana Karma (oleation
process), which literally means to impart
love by touch and with Ayurveda oils. This
process involves complete mind, senses and
body treatment. Physically, it soothes, heals
and regenerates the body. Massage relaxes
the muscles, nourishes the skin, and relieves
pain and fatigue. It helps to improve digestion,
circulation, the endocrine, lymphatic and
nervous systems.
Abhyanga also focuses on emotional and psychological
well-being. We often “store” emotions and
stress in our bodies. Our muscles can become
tense and our digestion may be impaired. Abhyanga
serves to release this tension. Touch in itself
is a subtle, yet powerful healing agent.
Massage treatments are specific to the individual
and their condition. Each massage is tailored
to the individual to enhance the therapeutic
potential. Depending on constitution and the
state of health of the individual, differing
herbs and techniques are used. Herbal pastes,
dried herbs, salt, mud and rice, herbs poultices
and silk, or herb fibers may also be used.
Specialized Abhyanga's are also available.
For example, massage for pregnancy, infants,
children, specific parts of the body (head,
face, feet, back), rehabilitation or rejuvenation,
and other forms of massage are also offered.
